You Mean I Can "Go Out" Just From Everyday Stuff!?!?

Often times people associate going to the chiropractor with major issues such as car accidents, work accidents, or any accident that happens on a bigger than normal. In all actuality we see more patients due to repetitive actions and small incidents. Your job, raking the leaves, cleaning your house, or any number of other mundane things can cause you issues over time.

Take for example John Smith who has a great job that requires he sits at a desk for most of the eight hours of his work day. Now John does get up to go to the bathroom, walk around for few minutes, goes and eats his lunch, and so on, BUT for the other six and half hours John remains in a semi-slouched position with his head in the same position. Now this seems okay, but start doing the math. 6.5 hours times 5 days a week (32.5 hours) times 51 weeks a year (we like a little vacation) is a total of 1,657.5 hours a year in this position. That is 69 days a year with out getting out of that chair! Does is start to make sense that John Smith's back might hurt on occasion? Ours hurts just thinking about it.

Another example would be Jane Smith who is a stay at home mother. Jane does her daily housework (with help from her kids of course) and spends most likely 6 hours a day of active time cleaning, cooking, yard work, and possibly more in a day. That in turns is at least 36 hours a week  since moms work constantly (51 weeks a year again)and that adds up 1,836 hours a year or 76.5 days a year of constantly cleaning and work! Think of all the bending down, lifting little kids, carrying large numbers of grocery bags in from the SUV, and so on. Things add up yet again over time.

Our two examples show that we are on tough ourselves with daily work and activities. Things build up over time and one day it all can go down quickly. Remember that pain is usually the last symptom to appear! If you can relate to one of these two examples and would like to know more check out our website or give us a call at 970.639.9730!
